MORE THAN JUST BEGINNER LESSONS

GLADE AND POWDER CLINICS HIGHLIGHT JAY PEAK SNOWSPORTS SCHOOL FOR 2007+08

After a successful first season, the new glade and powder clinics will again be the highlight of programs at the Jay Peak Snowsports School for the 2007/08 season. With the most liberal boundary-to-boundary skiing policy in New England, Jay Peak continues to encourage skiers and riders to learn how to ski gladed and wooded terrain enthusiastically, but with safety always at the forefront.

The two-and-a-half hour glade clinics offer instructors whose expertise is in glade and wooded skiing and riding. The clinics explore Jay’s famous on- and off-property tree skiing while instructors offer techniques and tips to rhythmic gladed turns. Women’s Glade and Powder Clinics offer specific instruction to those seeking to escape to the woods, starting with the easy gladed learning areas of Bonaventure Glade or Bushwacker and building up to the challenges of Andre’s Paradise, Deliverance, and Face Chutes. The clinic includes technique tips and video analysis plus lunch and off-slope discussion and development in the International Room.

Today, Jay Peak’s 24 gladed areas offer up more than 100 acres of boundary-to-boundary tree skiing. Skiers and riders are afforded the opportunity to ski anywhere within the Jay Peak ski area boundaries, so long as they ski in threes and exercise caution when re-entering the trail system.

In addition to the new Women’s Glade and Powder Clinic, skiers can take advantage of the only area in the East to offer a stellar combination of winter paradise – snow, glades and backcountry terrain – all in one area. The Powder + Glades + Backcountry Clinic offers advanced skiers and riders a chance to learn to float in powder, explore Jay’s legendary glade system, or for the fearless, to take a trip into The Dip, an off-property experience led by Jay instructors. The Dip off the Jet Triple on Jay's eastern boundary, is the only boundary woods Jay Peak promotes. These woods lead to Route 242, but skiers have gone too far in either direction and experienced the long walk out. A guided tour or clinic is strongly recommended.

Two-hour specialty clinics are $39/person and a minimum of three people is required for a clinic. A traditional adult group lesson is $35 for a two-hour session. Learn to ski/Learn to ride packages are available for $62/person and include rental equipment, a two-hour group lesson and a Beginner Zone lift ticket.
