OPENING DAY SCHEDULED FOR NOV. 17

JAY PEAK RESORT TO OPEN FOR THE SEASON EARLIER THAN SCHEDULED;
LIFTS WILL TURN THIS SATURDAY, NOV. 17

JAY, Vt. (Nov. 14, 2007) – Jay Peak Resort, located in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, announced today that it will open for the 2007-2008 ski and snowboard season this Saturday, Nov. 17. The decision to open earlier than scheduled comes from new natural snow this week as well as stellar snowmaking temperatures over the course of the past two weeks.

"We generally get open right after Thanksgiving but the weather gave us an earlier window this year and we took advantage of it," said Steve Wright, vice president of marketing and sales for the resort.  "Conditions will be good this weekend and the forecast looks great straight through the rest of the month.  We expect more terrain to be added on pretty much a daily basis."

With early snows covering Jay's trails in late October, the resort received another 4 inches of snow last Wednesday/Thursday with more in the forecast this week. Traditionally the resort receives upwards of 400 inches of natural snow over the course of the season.

Skiers and riders can enjoy intermediate and advanced skiing and riding on the Jet and Upper Haynes on Saturday. There will also be some terrain park elements ready for this weekend with a few rails available.  The Jet Triple chairlift will turn from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lift tickets are $40/adults and $25/juniors. The Stateside Cafeteria will also be open, and lift ticket may be purchased out of the Stateside ticket office. Customer Service will be available throughout the weekend from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Early season packages for the weekend are available from $99/person, which includes one night lodging in the Hotel Jay, 1-day lift ticket, breakfast, and dinner. Packages are based on double occupancy.
