VT GOVERNOR TO ATTEND DAIRY FARMER APPRECIATION DAY
GOVERNOR DOUGLAS TO VISIT JAY PEAK ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 25th, 2008
The Governor will be at the resort to attend Jay Peak’s 20th Annual Dairy Farmer Appreciation Day
JAY, Vt. (Jan. 24, 2008) - Governor Douglas will be at Jay Peak Ski Resort this Friday, January 25th from noon to 1:00pm to join Jay Peak in showing their support for Vermont’s agricultural community at the Resort’s 20th Annual Dairy Farmer Appreciation Day.
Born out of an idea to marry the relationship between the agricultural landscape and tourist-based businesses like Jay Peak, Dairy Day, as it is now fondly known, brings together more than 300 dairy farmers, most of whom don’t see each other throughout the year because of their rigorous work schedules.
Every Vermont farm receives three complimentary lift tickets for the day, free lessons, discounted rentals, local food sampling, a Nastar race, and an après-ski party complete with a DJ. The Governor will be on hand during part of the Nastar race to encourage participants. The race takes place on the Interstate trail at the Tramside base and is easily accessible for spectators.
