WHAT'S NEW 2007+08
As New England’s newest championship golf course wraps up its first complete season this fall, Jay Peak’s golf course is just one of the many shining stars of the resort’s Master Plan, which continues to evolve and grow this season. In addition, an A+ season pass program, snowmaking upgrades, and a new cross-country trail network round out this season’s improvements.
Phase III Village Condominiums Built and Virtually Sold Out; Pre-Sales and Construction for North Village Begins. As part of the Village portion of the Master Plan, construction of the slopeside condos located on Raccoon Run is complete and are all but sold, affording those with smart real estate savvy the benefits of affordable ski-in ski-out luxury living. Pre-sales have begun for the last two sites available in the North Village, also known as Condominium 2 and 3. These buildings have been redesigned to include a 4-bedroom, 3.5 bath unit on two levels that captures the feel of the larger Townhouse units, providing convenient access to the Tram Base Area. Construction is expected to begin on these units Spring 2008, with many ready for occupancy mid-season 2008/09.
Triple Major College Pass Receives A+. College students can now show off their smarts with New England’s newest college season pass, the Triple Major. Added to the course schedule for the 2007-2008 season is Mad River Glen, which teams up with Double Major Vermont veterans Jay Peak Resort and Bolton Valley, to offer unlimited access to all three resorts, all winter, for only $269. There are no restrictions at any of the resorts, and the pass includes night skiing at Bolton Valley until 9 p.m. The pass price increases to $329 after Nov. 5. Collectively, the three Vermont legends offer nearly 1,000 inches of snowfall annually and 180 trails, glades and chutes. In addition, Mad River Glen’s secret stash can be found in 800 acres of boundary to boundary off-piste skiing. Plus Bolton Valley operates Vermont’s most extensive night skiing including its new Burton Progression Park and terrain park, both open until 9 p.m. Jay Peak offers 2,000 feet of vertical skiing, accessed by Vermont’s only 60-passenger aerial tram.
Tramside Base Area Expansion and New Hotel Development. In an effort to create a more space and an easier experience in the base area, the Tramside expansion will continue this season with the design phase of the new 57-suite hotel. Designers are focused on developing an area with both renovations to the existing Tram and Austria Haus buildings as well as additional projects to improve and integrate the entire base area into one central, well-thought out space, allowing for convenient access to all skier services and an up-to-date hotel experience. Construction is expected to begin Spring 2008, and completion is planned for late Fall 2009.
Cross-Country Trail Network and Nordic Center. Jay’s cross-country trail network has expanded to 20km of traditional and skate skiing trails and more than 5km of snowshoe trails. New trails have been set all along the golf course cart paths and out by the existing Ullr's Loop (over by the Flyer Express Quad). The “Jay Trail Way” is a walking/hiking trail system that runs up and down the length of the Jay Branch Brook, up to Ullr’s woods, and near the base of the West Bowl. It is a beautiful, peaceful and inspiring trail. The “Jay Trail Way” was constructed by Bill Salmon and Heidi Ecker-Racz of the Jay Peak Ski Patrol.
