THE BUDDY LOUX LEGEND

TRADING IN SNOW FOR SAND, BUDDY LOUX’S LEGEND LIVES ON WITH JAY’S BUDDY CLUB

After taking on the backwoods and boundary-to-boundary skiing at Jay Peak, Jay Peak’s Buddy Loux has gone entrepreneur and opened up a dive shop, but doesn’t worry about skipping out on the cold winters and getting a little soft.

“You ever stared a 2,000 pound shark in the face?” responds the Jay Peaker. “No, I’m not too worried about that.”

While Buddy may have left his legendary skills and experience in ski lift construction, as well as his boards, behind for the sunshiny days of the island of St. Maarten, the real legend of Buddy still lives on at Jay’s infamous Buddy Club. Buddy will carve a few minutes out of his island days at his new dive shop, Ocean Explorers, and his 45-foot dives to watch sharks feed, to spin a few tails, lay down a few tips and continue to share with you the cheap skiing and room offers that The Buddy Club is famous for.

“Jay has been a very good place to me,” reflects Loux. “I love the people, and I love my time there. I’m going to miss that. But leading divers down about 45 feet to watch a sea of sharks feed has its own sick adrenaline kick too, much like the 3- and 4-footers that were so common at Jay. Same rush, just a little warmer climate.”

For members of The Buddy Club, the hidden treasures remain. Members will find Buddy secretly spilling the beans about special deals on ski and stay packages before they are offered to the general public. He’ll give a jingle with exclusive cell phone offers on Jay Peak condos and tickets throughout the season. Members can still work their way through the Jay glades with the interactive glade guide on their desktop.

“The Buddy Club has been so popular we knew we needed to keep it alive and well, although its captain has decided to sail a different ship,” said Steve Wright, vice president of sales and marketing. “We weren’t sure if the sun-kissed climes of his new island home would make Buddy lose his edge, but so far, he’s still his old cantankerous self.”
